Lake Brienz from Lucerne:

Once you are staying in Lucerne and have seen Lake Lucerne, and nearby areas you can consider visiting Lake Brienz. I suggest you do visit this lake because this is one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland with crystal clear bluest water. The colour of the water suggests how serene this lake is and why one should not miss this lake. On going there I realised I was in one of the most incomparable scenic places on earth and it surely was worth my time and money.

It is an easy journey from Lucerne to this lake. As the transport system of Switzerland is so well connected and organised, It does not feel you are travelling miles. I suggest you should have a Swiss travel pass in Switzerland , you can refer my earlier blog on how to obtain this pass. Lake Brienz cruise starts from Interlaken OST(east) . Prior to the day of travel one should see the timings for train to Interlaken OST from Lucerne. That makes it very time efficient. As the travel time from Lucerne to Interlaken is 1 hour 40 mins one is advised to know about the timings in advance as these trains are not very frequent. So missing one train would cost you  loss of time. Once you board the train I can assure you that the journey is very comfortable and scenic. The view from the train is the most scenic of all. You will cross many beautiful lakes, villages and hills. The train moves through steep hills and is definitely an adventurous experience. On the journey, you will cross Lungern which is a small mountain village but it has a beautiful lake with deep blue clear water which is a great delight to eyes. From the train the view is marvellous and in case you are not short of time you should get down in Lungern and walk around and click some pictures with mother nature. Nature lovers ..it is not to be missed at all then.

On reaching Interlaken OST , you can see the cruise timings. The Lake Brienz cruise starts from Interlaken OST and it is a few walks away from the station. You don’t need to buy any tickets for the cruise if you have Swiss travel pass. So this pass saves you a lot of time and money. You should consider moving around Interlaken town, where you will find plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes. This town is also lovely like any other place in Switzerland and has its own unique charm. There are various sites one can consider visiting once in Interlaken. You can consider staying in Interlaken also for visiting all these attractions.

As the cruise starts exactly on time one should reach the port well before time. On this cruise I was amazed at the level of beauty I saw around. It was way above my expectation. Everything was just perfect. Blue water, green mountains, ships passing by, villages on the banks it looked just like I was in some land where only beautiful things existed. As if there was no place for imperfection. On the journey to Brienz we crossed small villages and I am sure every village had something unique in them. Mostly short of time, we do not have much time to discover each and every place we see, that happens when we are typically tourists. But yes you can keep some destinations for your next visit too.

On reaching Brienz we disembark and rush to the Brienz station to catch our train back to Lucerne. As the travel system is so well timed and organised, we got our train to Lucerne immediately after we reached Brienz . Timings of trains and cruise have been managed well to ease travel for the tourists in Switzerland.  So once in Switzerland the travel mantra is "one lake, one mountain and one village" should be discovered apart from our entire itinerary.
